Jaw Crusher vs. Hammer Crusher in Performance

Release Date: 2017-02-17 Click times: 109 Edited by: admin

Both jaw crusher and hammer crusher are common crushing equipment in mining, metallurgy, building, road and bridge industries. Some users are confused to select a suitable one between jaw crusher and hammer crusher. Today we will make a brief comparison on the performance of the two types.
Jaw Crusher

Jaw Crusher
The two jaw plates are working part of jaw crusher. The crushing cavity is formed by an inclined movable jaw plate and a stationary jaw plate vertically fixed on the front wall of machine. The movable jaw is periodically reciprocated against the fixed jaw. They are sometimes separated and sometimes close. While separated, the materials enter into crushing chamber and finished materials are discharged in the lower part; while close, the materials between two jaws are crusher through extrusion, bending and splitting.
1.With simple structure, jaw crusher can be easily operated, changed and repaired. It has sound crushing ability for the bulk hard materials. In the crushing production line, jaw crusher is mainly used for primary or secondary crushing.
2. With relatively large vertical travel of movable jaw, it facilitates discharge of sticky and wet materials.
3. Jaw crusher crushes the materials through extrusion, so the finished materials have irregular shape. So they should be further processed if the customers require sound shape.
4. Jaw crusher has half idle motion, so it consumes more energy in the operation.
Hammer Crusher

Hammer Crusher
Hammers are main working parts of hammer crusher. In the operation, the materials are crushed under hitting of rotary hammers at high speed. The counterattack plates with a variety of angles will also be installed inside the cavity to counter materials. In the end, the crushed finished materials with qualified size will be discharged through gap of adjustable plate.
1. A single hammer crusher has multiple crushing stages. It is mainly featured by high efficiency, large size reduction ratio and uniform particle size. Besides, it almost has no excessive crushing.
2. The materials are crushed successively through hitting of hammers, counterattack of impact plate and mutual collision, so it consumes less energy and reduces abrasion of the wear parts.
3. Hammer crusher is suitable for crushing medium-hard materials, otherwise, the main spare parts, like hammers and lining plate, will suffer severe abrasion.
4. No metal such as steel or iron shall be mixed in the crushing materials; otherwise, it will easily cause production accidents.
