Light-Weight Concrete Introduction and Types
Light-weight concrete is a kind of material that made by artificial and natural aggregates of coarse and fine light-weight aggregates, cement gelatin, and water with less than 1900kg/m3 to replace ordinary concrete. This kind material can reduce concrete quality and improve thermal effects. Light-weight concrete is always made from cement gelatin and sometimes made from limestone, gypsum, and asphalt.
Light-weight concrete has the feature of light-weight, high strength, insulation, refractory, fine flexibility with huge amount of porosities.
Light-weight concrete is widely applied into industrial and civil construction to reduce structure weight, save material, improve transportation and hoisting rates, reduce foundation loading, and improve building functions.
Types: there are insulation and structure light-weight concrete in application that can use refractory concrete to take place of kiln liner. In aggregates size, it can be divided into coarse light-weight aggregates of over 5mm and less than 1000kg/m3 bulk density and fine light-weight aggregates with less than 5mm material size and less than 1200kg/m3 bulk density. And it can be divided into natural, industrial waste, artificial light-weight aggregates in aggregates source.
Light-weight aggregates has the technology feature of loose density, strength, particle grading, water absorption, durable, stable volume, harmful ingredient content, and so on.
