Many types of crushers are similar in the aspect of appearance and crushing principle. For those newly engaged in gravel aggregates industry, it is difficult to tell hammer crusher from impact crusher.

In the following, we will make a detailed introduction on the differences between impact crusher and hammer crusher.

Hammer Crusher

Working Principle

Hammer crusher crushes the materials by hammers. Installed on the hammer disc of rotor shaft, the hammers rotate at a high speed under drive of motor. After striking to the rotating hammers, the splintered materials are impacted to the inner plate for repeated crushing. Then the materials with qualified size are discharged at the lower outlet. The hammer crusher is featured by large crushing ratio and high production efficiency.

There are flat hammers installed in the chamber of impact crusher. After suffering impact of flat hammers, the materials are beat back to the upper plate for crushing. Then the crushed materials are rebounded to the flat hammers for further processing till they meet specified size requirements.

Impact Crusher

Handling Materials Scope

Hammer crusher is suitable for materials with medium or hard hardness. Its can crush the stone up to 1200mm into less than 25mm. With large reduction size, it is generally used for primary or secondary crushing. Through improvement, Dingli’s hammer crusher is able to crush the material into required size for only once.

Impact crusher is mainly applied for the materials with middle hardness. Through repeated impact and crushing in the chamber, the finished materials will have fine grain shape. It is often used as secondary crusher with relatively small capacity.

Internal Design of Hammer Crusher

Discharge Port Design

Hammer crusher adopts grid to control output size. After striking of hammer crusher, the materials fall into lower grid, then the qualified part will be discharged through the grate.

There is no sieve installed in the lower part of impact crusher. Its grain size of finished materials is controlled by adjusting the gap between impact plate and flat hammers.

Through comparison of hammer crusher and impact crusher in the above aspects, we hope it will provide references for the new investors of gravel aggregates industry to purchase stone crushers.
