Recently, with developing of rural basic infrastructure construction, the demand of gravel increases. Thus, the quantity of quarry increases. While satisfying infrastructure development, we also pollute eco-environment. Now we will analyze its influence and provide some measures for environmental protection. 

 

I. Opencast quarry development status quo

With the features of small scale, great quantity, short distance, improper management, and low environmental protection measure, opencast quarry damages the environment. Now with the development of urban infrastructure construction, and the increase number of opencast quarry, it damages environment of soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, and then threaten human life. And then government realizes the urgent of environment that takes measures for it.

II. Environmental influence

1. Plant impact

Quarry refers to mine mountain and cutting plants that will have soil erosion problems without recover and protection. On the other side, with poor soil, it will be difficult to recover with damaging. Large scale forest cutting will changes former ecology and damages plant. 

2. Soil damaging

As we all know, mountain will be covered with soil that should be removed before mining. Thus, the damaging problems are soil removing, damaging soil structure, and deteriorating eco-system. There will be flood, heavy rain, landslide and mudflow. 

3. Soil erosion

Stone mining needs dig mountain, cut plant, remove soil, and produce a great amount of waste soil and stone that will course soil erosion. 

4. Biodiversity loss

Quarry will damage plant, ecosystem and environment which will cause biodiversity loss.

5. Water pollution

    In mining stone, it will produce some chemical and physical pollution and then pollute underwater, river and drinking water. 

6. Noise and dust

Blasting of stone will produce dust and air pollutant. And mining, producing, transportation, loading, will influence surrounding human life.

III. Managing measure

1. Reinforce safety management

Holding the principle of safety first, prevention first, and strictly carry on safety production, mining safety rule, blasting safety rule, and so on relative rules.

2. Cutting slop with stage

After mining, you should adopt cutting slop with stage method to stable slop with lining, fold, stage, and so on.

3. Slope protection

After mining, we should protect the slop, plant some tree or put some stones.

4. Slop angle protection

In protecting slop angle, we should put some soil wall for loose soil and set flood discharge channel 1 meter far from the slop.

5. Dust collector

In processing stone, it will produce a great amount of dust that should install pulse bag dust collector with over 99% dust removing effect.

6. Filling potholes

There are waste stone for filling potholes. After filling, you should have leveling, compaction, and make water discharging equipment. Also you can fill some soil and plant some flowers and tree.  

 

Summary: opencast quarry has great impact in eco-environment that can only be reduced with full prevention for lower environment pollutant, biodiversity development, and mining prevention.
