Stone Crusher Types and Selection Criterion
In the mining industry, the crusher is a machine mainly applied to reduce the size of large rocks into smaller rocks like gravels. TYPES OF CRUSHER
According to application process and feeding method in the stone crusher plant, the crusher can be divided into three types as follows:
1.Primary crusher
Primary crusher has the ability to process the crushing material (a material that has to be crushed) directly from the quarry. Instead of aggregate size material, only large stones require primary crusher for being crushed. Jaw crusher; hammer crusher and gyratory crusher are common types. After processing of primary crusher, it produces a new kind of source material with particle size less than 250mm.
2. Secondary crusher
In the next stage comes secondary crusher, which further reduces the size. In this process, some stone materials (for example less than 4.75mm) may be directly discharged as final product. Common secondary crushers include impact crusher cone crusher, roll crusher and hammer crusher.
3. Tertiary Crusher
At the end of crushing process, tertiary crusher reduces the previously crushed materials size to the required size and it greatly affects the fineness of final products. Its machine size is smaller than that of primary and secondary crusher. In addition to sand making machine, roll crusher, rod mill and ball crusher are often regarded as tertiary crushers.

Selection of crusher sounds like a complicated and important process, however, as long as we keep in mind the main selection criterion summarized by the industry experts, it can be easy job.
Quality of stones for crushing
Quality of stone mainly refers to its hardness and compressive strength. Jaw crusher is undoubtedly a good choice for hard stones while middle-hard stones can select hammer crusher for crushing & shaping at the same time.
The maximum size of stones
The size of stones shall not exceed the max feed size of the machine so as to avoid clogging and machine failure.
Capacity per hour
If someone selects a crusher that has lager capacity than his requirements, then it will be uneconomical since as crusher size increases, its fuel burning rate and maintenance cost will be more as well.
Particle size of final products
Although more and more crushers allow customers to adjust the particle size of final materials by easily controlling the machine, it is still necessary to confirm that their requirement for the size can be met.
