Since the qualified natural sand resources are getting exhausted, the artificial sand gradually replaces natural sand for the construction purpose. But what is the difference between the artificial sand and natural sand?

With the development of the construction industry, the market requires more sand with higher quality. Since the qualified natural sand (river sand) resources are getting exhausted, the artificial sand gradually replaces natural sand. But what is the difference between the artificial sand and natural sand? Today we will mainly talk about this topic.

What is artificial sand (M-sand)?

artificial sand

As the name suggests, artificial sand (mechanism sand, manufactured sand or M-sand) is produced by the machinery and equipment through a series of physical actions including stone hitting stone and iron hitting stone. Compared with natural sand, artificial sand has more prominent edge angles on the surface.

What is natural sand (river sand)?

natural sand

Natural sand (river sand) is formed by natural conditions (mainly rock weathering). Its particle size is generally less than 5 mm. Through water erosion, the natural sand always has flat shape and feels more delicate.

The difference between artificial sand and natural sand

1. Due to long-term erosion by the river water, the surface of natural sand appears to be relatively smooth. While the manufactured sand seems a bit rough and has clear edges and corners.

2. The raw materials for artificial sand is selected by the human being, so it has more uniform mineral and chemical composition while the composition of artificial sand is more complex and uncontrollable.

3. Artificial sand has stable performance. Through processing of sand washer, it can be quite clean and without muddy & other harmful impurities.

4. Artificial sand can be effectively generated in a short period of time, which is more eco-friendly. However the natural sand is unrenewable resources, the exploitation of natural sand will cause damage to ecological balance or flood threat.

5. The artificial sand is not as solid as that of natural sand,

6. The fineness modulus and particle size distribution of natural (river) sand is naturally determined while the artificial sand has various types of fineness modulus and particle size distribution which can be adjusted according to the customer requirements.
